Enjoy a Relaxing Fall Day Inside Thunder Mountain Park!
We are sad to see summer go here at Best Lake Attractions, but fall brings spectacular sights to our area and there are still plenty of fun things to do in the off-season! Bridal Cave and Thunder Mountain Park is open year-round and if you've never visited them in the fall, you have to put it at the top of your priority list! There is plenty to keep you busy inside Thunder Mountain Park - read on to get the ultimate guide for visiting Bridal Cave this fall!
Family Photo Opportunities
Although Bridal Cave will not be hosting their Fall Festival this year, their staff still did an amazing job with the fall decorations! The main areas of the park are filled with pumpkins, straw bales, mums, and corn stalks! Take advantage of the gorgeous fall decor and snap a few family photos!
Gemstone Mining
Kids love panning for gemstones in our outdoor sluice! This is a fun activity for all ages and it also makes the perfect souvenir to take home. Head inside the visitors center and purchase a bag of "dirt", then head out to the Thunder Mountain Mining Company and sift through the water to reveal treasures! Every single bag is guaranteed to have rough-cut gemstones or fossils!
Walk the Nature Trail
Bridal Cave has a 1/2 mile nature trail inside the park and it's free for all our guests to enjoy. Fall is an especially gorgeous time of year to take a hike through the woods. Enjoy gorgeous sites along your journey including an old outdoor classroom, fall foliage, Bear Cave (gated with no entrance permitted), and a gorgeous view of Lake of the Ozarks.
Pack a Picnic Lunch
After all that fall fun you're sure to work up an appetite! Their scenic pavilion overlooking the Big Niangua Arm of the Lake has picnic tables, so why not pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic outdoors.
Cave Tour!
Of course, no trip to Bridal Cave is complete without a tour of one of America's most scenic caverns! The cave remains a constant temperature of 60 degrees, so no matter what the weather is doing outside, you can enjoy a tour! Park interpreters will lead you and your family through room after room of incredible mineral deposits. Giant columns, delicate soda straws, and massive draperies abound throughout the cave. Millions of years of struggle between water and rock have created this cavern with more onyx formations than any other known cave or cavern. A tour through Bridal Cave is a family adventure you will never forget.
